About Me
Shedeka (she/they) is a Licensed Master Social Worker, Certified Meditation and Yoga Teacher and Yoga Therapist in training.
She is devoted to nurturing and balancing the sweet nectar (soma) of her practice (sadhana), constantly learning, practicing, forgetting and remembering how to get out of the "way" so life can lead.
Shedeka's path to healing began as a quest to manage anxiety and migraine symptoms, evolving into a transformative exploration of yoga and Ayurveda. This journey not only provided relief from symptoms but unveiled a deeper understanding of truly embodying profound mind-body connection.
Her approach transcends symptom management. She believes true transformation lies in nurturing balance and alignment with our whole true self, harmonizing our bodies, hearts and minds. This philosophy encourages embracing life's mysteries while cultivating skills and tools for resilience and balance.
With a deep commitment to guiding individuals towards eliminating, reducing, and managing symptoms that cause suffering, she brings a comprehensive approach through her Yoga Therapy work. Shedeka's personal experience infuses her work with authenticity, enabling her to guide others on their path to balance and self-discovery with empathy and insight. Her work creates a welcoming spaces to reconnect, transform, and thrive authentically in an ever-changing world.
Originally from Taíno land (Jamaica), she currently resides and work on Osage, Miami, Sioux, Kiikaapoi land (Missouri) where she is the owner of Soma Sadhana Yoga Therapy and Well-being. She offers in-person and virtual yoga therapy sessions and specializes in grounding techniques, cultivating self-compassion, and nervous system regulation—powerful tools that have been instrumental in her own journey.
